Marine Forecast: Northeast 10 knots rising to northerly 15 knots this morning. Easing to northeast 10 knots again late evening. Sea slight. Fine.

Crew: Peter, Malcolm, Graciela, Geoff

Departed Chaffers at 1300 hrs on another beautiful breezy and hot Wellington day. About 10 kts of wind so decided to err on the side of caution and use the No. 3 Jib and Mainsail. We did a practice man-overboard then headed NE towards Somes Island close hauled (40 degree angle to the wind - see image below) reaching up to 6 kts at times.

Dropped the anchor at 1406 hrs on the lee side of Somes Island in about 18 M depth. After lunch we returned in a single tack on a beam reach (90-100 degrees) at a good speed of up to 6.6 kts. Graciela spotted dolphins swimming under the boat! About 4 or them but no time to get a photo. We arrived back in the marina berth at 1612 hrs in time for a cool beer!
