Crew: Peter, Caroline, Graciela, Geoff
Forecast: Variable 5 knots in the morning. Northerly 15 knots developing in the afternoon, rising to 20 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate in the evening. Fine weather.

Departed Chaffers at 1215 hrs, Sailed across the harbour with Main and No. 3 Jib reaching south end of Somes island at 1300 hrs. The club mooring was occupied by a largish motor boat so we decided that rather than rafting up we would drop the anchor. Bit too cool for a swim even in the shelter from the N breezes but had a nice lunch and coffees. Observed another yacht arrive and requested to raft up with the motor boat. Overheard the skipper say he'd rather not and anyway where's your club pennant? We were happy to be on our hook.

Weighed anchor and departed Somes at 1410 hrs and made quick progress back with Peter on helm in northerlies up to 15 kts at times with speed up to 6.4 kts. Great sailing conditions.

Arrived back at Chaffers at 1455 hrs.
