Crew: Eduardo, Marco, Agustín (Snr), Agustín (Jnr), Geoff

Weather: Northerly 15-20 knots

Rigged up the No. 3 Headsail and departed from Chaffers Marina at 1037 hrs. We made our way across the harbour with around 16 kts northerly wind. Marco did a great job on helm on a close reach with good speed up to 6.7 kts. Arrived at southern end of Somes Island at 1130 hrs and picked up the club mooring. Had lunch and a cup of tea in the shelter from the northerlies. Wind was increasing out on the harbour to we put 2 reefs in the main and cast off from the mooring at 1215 hrs.

We sailed on a broad reach with Eduardo on helm doing about at 6.5 kts towards Wellington. The northerly was blowing now at 22 kts so decided to pull down the No. 3 and hoist the Storm Jib. Speed dropped to 5.6 kts but it made for more relaxing sailing.

Docking into the berth was a bit tricky with the gusty 15 kts wind and we aborted the first attempt. Didn't get the angle quite right so turned round and tried again. Second attempt worked perfectly and we tied up at 1324 hrs.

An exhilarating day out on the water.
