Somes Island with Marjorie, Paul and Malcolm - 3 May 2015

Marine forecast: Variable 5 knots. Northerly 10 knots developing late this evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine.

Beautiful day's sailing with Malcolm Wood, Marjorie and Paul, and Graciela.

Started out with the Mainsail and No,1 Genoa but winds was stronger than expected (15 Knots variable) and the ride was a bit hairy for the newbees. At one stage Paul was on the tiller and we did a complete 360 degree turn! Took the headsail down and sailed the rest of the way to Somes Island with just mainsail.

Dropped anchor on leeward side of island (south side) and had a beautiful lunch prepared by Marjorie and Graciela with pastries from Malcolm.

Pulled up the anchor and it came up with a huge 'horse mussel' attached. Still alive too.

Returned to port with the No 3 Jib which was perfect for the conditions. 'Picture-perfect' return to the berth.
