Marine Forecast: Southeast 10 knots, rising to 15 knots for a time this afternoon then easing to variable 5 knots this evening. Sea slight. Morning cloud then fine.

Crew: Geoff, Graciela, Olivia and Tim.

Set off from Chaffers at 1023 hrs and tacked our way out to Cook Strait with Mainsail and No. 2 Genoa. . The southerly was stronger than predicted so we changed the No.2 for the smaller No. 3. Took the long way round Barrett Reef Buoy arriving at Island Bay at 1310 hrs.

We were joined by a large pod of dolphins as we neared Island Bay. Very exciting!

Put the anchor down in the bay for a rest but found it wasn't holding very well and we ended up twisting our anchor rode around one of the moorings in the bay. Tim saved the day diving down to untangle the rope and we headed back home at 1440 hrs.

Winds were up to around 20 kts so had a fast ride back home with a tail wind - doing around 6.5 kts. We performed one unplanned gybe at 1530 hrs off Point Dorset which knocked Geoff over in the cockpit. May have hurt a rib, quite painful.

Back home at Chaffers Marina at 16,32 hrs. Total distance 23.89 nautical miles Our most ambitious trip so far!
