Sea Trial with Grant - 15 Dec 2015

Weather Forecast: Northerly 15 knots, rising to northwest 20 knots this afternoon and to northwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots late this evening.

Following the reassemble of the main sail Grant and I took Halo out for a quick 'sea trial' in particular to test the reefing systems. With a fairly brisk wind (about 15 kts rising to 20 kts) it was a good test for the Second Reef together with Jib No. 3.

First noticeable difference was that even in a good wind the amount of force required to keep the helm straight was minimal. Tried out the Autohelm but disappointingly it failed to work. Needs further investigation.

All other systems worked well. Re-entry to the marina berth went perfectly coming in a bit slower speed than previously. Great to be out for a quick sail.
